Abstract/Class Outline:

Anxiety is a pervasive issue that affects both clients and therapists. This 2.5-hour presentation is designed to equip therapists with the tools to recognize, address, and treat anxiety in their clients and within themselves. Through an integration of recent research, practical strategies, and self-reflective exercises, participants will learn how to identify anxiety symptoms, apply evidence-based treatments, and implement self-care practices to manage their anxiety. This presentation will emphasize the importance of self-awareness and therapist well-being, ensuring that professionals can provide the best care while maintaining their mental health.

Class Objectives

Recognize Symptoms of Anxiety: Understand the various presentations of anxiety in clients and therapists, including cognitive, emotional, and physical symptoms.
Apply Evidence-Based Treatments: Learn and practice techniques and measurements from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for tracking & managing anxiety in clients.
Enhance Self-Awareness: Develop skills for identifying personal anxiety triggers and implementing strategies to manage them effectively.
Promote Therapist Self-Care: Explore self-care practices that therapists can use to reduce anxiety, prevent burnout, and maintain professional effectiveness.
